'Monitored' fits the scientific register where 'watched' does not. 'Draw conclusions' is a fixed collocation; 'draw decisions' and 'draw results' are not. Two words are left unused by design.
Read the passage quickly, past the gaps, to establish the topic and the direction of the argument. Gaps in academic prose are usually filled by the vocabulary of a single subject field, and knowing that field narrows the bank before you read it.
Work through the blanks and mark whether each needs a noun, verb, adjective or adverb, plus any form the sentence forces, such as a plural or a past participle. Do this before looking at the bank so the words cannot bias you.
Drag in the answers you are sure of, in whatever order they occur to you. Each placement takes a word out of the bank, so the harder gaps get easier as you go, and the deliberate distractors become visible by elimination.
Credit is given per gap, so an empty blank can only cost you. Use word class and collocation to place something in each one, and expect words to be left over in the bank, since surplus distractors are part of the design.
