Sit with your fingers on the keys or your pen on the erasable noteboard before the audio begins. The sentence plays once and is short, so anything that delays your first word by even a moment costs you the opening phrase.
Write or type words as you hear them, in whatever order and however roughly. Each correct word is credited independently, so a scattering of nouns and verbs is worth far more than a polished fragment of the first half of the sentence.
Immediately afterwards, assemble your captured words into the full sentence, using grammar to recover the small function words you missed: articles, prepositions and auxiliaries usually follow from the content words on either side of the gap they left.
